Javelin Gen 2 5.5 mm (.217) 40 grain slugs are very well balanced due to their uniformity and density, which is possible because they are forged instead of cast. These second-generation Javelin slugs have been modified to improve performance even further:
- Hollow point shape and depth have been redesigned for better expansion and weight distribution
- Meplat is rounded for better aerodynamics
- Base is now hollow instead of flat, for more stability in turbulent conditions
- Tighter machine tolerances for more consistency between batches
These improvements, the smooth finish, and the ingenious bullet shape of the Javelin Gen 2 slugs give them a ballistic coefficient of 0.118.
