Javelin Gen 2 5.5 mm (.218) 40 grain slugs are very well-balanced due to their uniformity and density, which is possible because they are swaged rather than cast. These second-generation Javelin slugs have been modified to improve performance even further:
- Hollow point shape and depth have been redesigned for better expansion and weight distribution
- Meplat has been rounded for better aerodynamics
- Base is now hollow instead of flat, for greater stability in turbulent conditions
- Tighter machine tolerances for more consistency between batches
These improvements, the smooth finish, and the ingenious bullet shape of the Javelin Gen 2 slugs give them a ballistic coefficient of 0.118.
